Whether preparing for your next review or charting a path toward full professorship and beyond, our programs equip you with strategic insights and practical tools to achieve your career goals.

Faculty Development Workshops

Our faculty development workshops are designed to help faculty thrive—professionally and personally—at every career stage. Grounded in faculty development research and developed in collaboration with faculty, these sessions address real-world challenges and evolving demands in academia and beyond. Whether focused on practical skills like launching a lab or strategies for enhancing mental well-being and productivity, each workshop offers actionable guidance to make the complex work of faculty life more efficient, effective, and sustainable. With an eye toward institutional context and global shifts in higher education, our workshops equip faculty with the tools they need to grow, lead, and succeed.

Writing Groups

Interested in increasing your writing capabilities in articles, book chapters, and grant proposals to publication and submission stages? ADVANCE and the Northeastern Writing Program are pleased to offer facilitated faculty Writing Groups which meet weekly. Writing Group members meet to share and get feedback on writing in progress.


Full-Time Non-Tenure Track (FTNTT) Fellowship

This fellowship funds Full-Time Non-Tenure Track (FTNTT) faculty for a one term paid leave (“Fellowship”) to engage in professional activities that benefit the university. Faculty are paid 100% salary for the term during which they are on leave.

Tenure and Promotion Workshops

ADVANCE Office of Faculty Development hosts multiple information sessions on tenure and promotion to support faculty as they navigate these important moments in their careers. These sessions are led by experts from the Office of the Provost and offer opportunities to learn about the tenure and promotions processes, review the model dossiers, and ask questions. You can find additional resources, recordings, and slides here under the “Faculty Tenure and Promotion” section.
These sessions include:

  • Preparing for Midcourse Review: An information session for tenure-track faculty providing comprehensive information on the mid-course review process.

  • Preparing for Tenure Review: An information session that provides a comprehensive overview of the tenure process for assistant professors and their mentors.

  • Preparing for Promotion to Full Professor: An information session that provides important information and guidance for associate professors on preparing for and navigating the full professor promotion process.

  • Preparing for Promotion for Full-Time Non-Tenure Track Faculty: An information session that provides a comprehensive overview of the promotion process for full-time non-tenure track faculty.

  • Full-Time Non-Tenure Track Faculty Fellowship Inspiration Session: It provides participants with an opportunity to learn about the Full-Time Non-Tenure Track Fellowship Program and to hear from past fellowship recipients about their experiences.
