At the ADVANCE Office of Faculty Development, our mission is to foster a supportive environment that empowers faculty to excel in their teaching, research, and service. Our evolving initiatives are shaped by faculty feedback and designed to meet their diverse and changing needs. Through this work, we strive to build a community of engaged, empowered, and successful educators.
Career Advancement
We support faculty growth at every career stage through a variety of professional development opportunities. Our workshops and career advancement resources are tailored to help faculty refine their skills, pursue new challenges, and achieve their professional goals.
Community & Belonging
We believe in an academic environment where all faculty members, regardless of background, feel valued and empowered to succeed. Through workshops, seminars, and resource-sharing, we provide tools to address bias, enhance cultural competency, and foster a sense of belonging.
Leadership
Our leadership programs cultivate the capacity of faculty to lead with impact—across disciplines, identities, and institutional structures. Whether supporting mid-career faculty in securing major research awards or preparing emerging leaders to navigate complexity and drive institutional change, our programs build supportive peer cohorts, demystify hidden norms, and connect faculty with experienced mentors.
Mentoring
Mentorship plays an important role in faculty success, career satisfaction, and retention. Our mentoring programs provide faculty with guidance and support within structured peer and senior-level mentoring relationships. We also recognize the critical role faculty play as mentors to students, research trainees, and other faculty members by providing opportunities to strengthen and deepen their mentorship practice.
