Mentoring

Mentoring begins upon entry.

Northeastern University is committed to faculty success and offers a range of formal and informal mentoring opportunities across all career stages—from onboarding through retirement. Mentorship begins with New Faculty Orientation and continues through university-wide programs designed to help faculty build meaningful connections and access essential academic resources. While this page highlights university-level offerings, additional mentoring support is also available within colleges and departments.

ADVANCE Faculty Networks (AFN)

Facilitators guide peer-mentoring networks through enriching, engaging dialogues that foster professional growth. A variety of role- and topic-based groups are offered. In-person, hybrid, and virtual options are available to meet the diverse needs of faculty throughout the global campuses.

Mentoring SOS

Mentoring System of Support (SOS) works to help early-career faculty and their mentors build meaningful and efficacious mentoring relationships. Mentors and mentees receive weekly prompts that ensure mentors and mentees cover relevant topics and maintain an active mentoring relationship.

Mutual Mentoring Advancement Program (M²AP)

To further enhance existing mentoring initiatives, ADVANCE Office is pleased to offer Mutual Mentoring Advancement Program (M²AP) grants. M²AP grants support individual faculty-designed mutual mentoring initiatives with self-defined goals, which offer faculty members an opportunity to create a mentoring experience tailor-made by them that involves groups of peers, near peers, and senior colleagues from within and/or outside Northeastern.
