Program Description
Led by a committee of senior Northeastern faculty, STRIDE workshops foster interactive, research-informed conversations about how bias influences evaluation and decision-making—and how to counter it with intentional, effective practices. Open to all faculty and staff, STRIDE was launched in 2009 by the ADVANCE Office of Faculty Development and modeled after the nationally recognized program at the University of Michigan.
STRIDE Workshop: Leveraging Rubrics for Effective Faculty Searches
This evidence-based virtual workshop examines the strategic use of rubrics as decision-support tools in faculty hiring. Participants explore both the benefits and limitations of rubrics, learning how to develop, implement, and use them effectively while avoiding common pitfalls. This session emphasizes that rubrics are tools to support equitable decision-making and thoughtful deliberation
